So, when was it that we decided to live ordinary lives instead of living extraordinary ones? I pondered that very same question many years ago, I could feel something within me was sure that there was something more for me than the expectations, the attachments, the judgements.
Merely existing was simply not for me. So, I began a quest to discover the answer to this question. On my journey, I observed many people existing in ordinary, doing what was right for everyone else, following through on the expectations of others, yet feeling unfulfilled inside.
On a logical level, it appeared on the surface to be a good life, yet underneath the surface, there was this ache, a feeling of uncertainty, and a nagging thought, ‘Is this it?’ I asked the question, ‘If you are feeling unfulfilled, what can you do differently?’, to which most responded, ‘Nothing really, what other choice do I have?’
And there it was. CHOICE! People didn’t feel that they had a choice.
Who were they to break the mould and say ‘no’ to their ordinary life? Who were they to listen to the guidance of their heart and follow its’ whispers? What would others think of them if they did what it is that they wanted for themselves? What would happen if they took care of themselves and their own needs first? What would life be like if they dared to dream? Who would they discover they are if they took that first step and made a new choice?
- Yes, ordinary gives us a feeling of acceptance.
- Yes, ordinary is doing the right thing.
- Yes, ordinary is existing and getting by.
- Is that enough?
For me, it is simply not enough. We are all here for a reason. We have been bestowed our own unique talents and gifts and we are here to share these with others. We are here to ignite the brilliant spark within and shine so brightly.
We are all unique.
Never has there been, and never again will there be anyone just like you!
We all have just one opportunity, one life, one time, but not one choice. In every moment, we can make new, different choices, choices that align with our highest purpose, choices that make us feel good.
So yes, we have been conditioned to be ordinary, and yes, we can make different choices. So, what choice are you going to make NOW? It’s up to you. When would now be the right time to discover your extraordinary?
